Ivory Coast or Ghana: who really has the best performing economy?
For more than a decade, Côte d'Ivoire has recorded strong GDP growth, generally between 6% and 7% per year, making it one of the most successful economies in the world. Ghana also shows solid growth, around 5% to 6% in the last two years, but this is more volatile. After registering a strong expansion in the 2010s - up to 14% growth in 2011 - driven by the exploitation of hydrocarbons, the economy collapsed with the 2022 crisis, and the growth rate fell to 0.5%.
